This year Chara performed at Countdown Japan, a New Year's concert produced by ROCKIN'ON, and there will be special broadcasts in January and February. If you will be in Japan, and you receive WOWOW, please check their listings for the broadcast times.

"Utakata" (うたかた)
Chara's new album, released November 2nd, 2011 is called "Utakata" (うたかた, which is an ancient Japanese word that means 'bubbles' or impermanence). Like Dengon it is a world release and should be available from iTunes in many parts of the world. Chara considers this album a "perfect parallel" to her last album called "Dark Candy". Please take a listen!

On August 3rd, Chara has released「伝言」(Message), an online-only song download from iTunes, Amazon and Recochoku.

As you know, there was a powerful earthquake on March 11th, that spawned a devastating tsunami. Many people died, but also many more were left homeless or lost friends and family members. Some lost their whole hometown. Radiation from the Fukushima nuclear power plant continues to be a grave concern for Japan and the world. The physical damage and the emotional and psychological damage are extrordinary, and many people in eastern Japan need help. When Chara wants to express her feelings, she uses song. Music has power.「伝言」was written and performed in Chara's home. Proceeds from the download will go to victims of the disaster.
Goods for charity in the Happy Toy Store
There are two new goods for sale in the Happy Toy Store, an aroma candle and a sports towel both with a graphic drawn by Chara herself. The proceeds for these items will go to the World Vision charity for children. Check it out!
Summer Festival Season
Summer is almost here, and we're happy to announce that Chara will perform at TWO summer festivals this year! The ap bank fes’11 Fund for Japan will take place July 16th through 18th at the Tsumagoi venue in Kakegawa, Shizuoka. On August 6th, Chara will perform at the Rock in Japan Festival near Mito in Ibaraki prefecture.
New Album! Dark Candy 4/13/2011
You know, this is the 20th anniversary year of Chara's debut... and lots of things are happening this year - it's going to be fun. A month after releasing Very Special, we can annoucne that a new full-length album is coming April 13th! The album's name is Dark Candy, and you can see the tracklist in the WORKS section of the website [the album was delayed due to the on-going power outage situation in Japan ]
Best Hits Album "Very Special"!
Very Special is on sale now. It's a compilation of the best songs of the last few years. The album's tracklist was chosen by Chara herself, and includes one new song 卒業〜一つずつ君は抱きしめて〜 ('Sotsugyou Hitotsu Zutsu Kimiwa Dakishimete') and two live tracks from the well-received show at Billboard Live in Tokyo last autumn.
